Our mission

Provide professional care for your horse, who was your companion all those years. Our stables are always clean and paddocks always green.

Our vision

The elderly deserve our respect after many years of faithful service. They are more like companions. At Collingwood, your horse will never be standing in sand, groping for grass. Our camps are always well watered, and never over grazed.

Pat's love, for the unfortunate and unlovable, is shown through her efforts to rescue animals in the townships around Cape Town. She works closely with Fisantekraal Animal Rescue. She continually puts herself in danger while rescuing dogs, donkeys, or cats. Furthermore, she arranges to have them dewormed, vaccinated, and chipped. Then, Pat makes the effort to find good homes so that they can enjoy a normal life.

Stabling horses helps support this rescue effort.

The reward for their new owners is a loyal and protective family member.

Amy my Faithful Friend

Amy, my faithful friend, the dog in my heart,

With you by my side, never shall we part.

Through days of joy and moments of sorrow,

You've been there for me, today and tomorrow.

Your wagging tail, a symbol of pure bliss,

Your gentle gaze, a look I always miss.

You understand my emotions, oh so true,

In your presence, I always feel brand new.

Waiting for your morning head rub,

With your simple, gentle nudge.

With each stroke of your loving paw,

I now reminisce and yearn in awe.

Your head nestled against my chest,

I realized how much I am blessed.

Of all those moments we shared,

Showing me how much you cared.

But now, my dear Amy, you're no longer here,

And my heart aches with a longing so clear.

I miss your warmth, your furry embrace,

The way you brightened any gloomy space.

Amy, you’re my constant companion, so dear,

You've touched my life, a love I hold near.

Though you're gone, your spirit remains,

A bond, the passing of days can’t wane.

Though you've crossed the rainbow bridge above,

Your memory lives on, wrapped in my love.

I'll cherish the moments we shared together,

In my heart, you'll reside, now and forever.

In my thoughts and dreams, you'll always be,

A precious part of my life's symphony.

Thanks for your devotion, the joy you bestowed,

Amy, my dear friend, your memory forever retold.

Abandoned

On a rain-lashed day, I drew my first breath,
Mother chained, her eyes a well of sorrow.
Shivering, alone, no warmth, no rest,
Hunger gnawed, would there be a tomorrow?

Night falls, bringing no peace, only fear,
Shadows lurk, menacing and cold.
Strange sounds echo, danger always near,
Should I run or fight? No one to hold.

My only friend, stolen in the dark,

Dragged to a local, cruel dog fight.

Muzzled silence where his bark should be,

My heart aches, will it be my destiny?

One master I know, my heart stays true,
Tail wags with hope, for a scrap of food.
I yearn for touch, a kindness so new,
But meet only a swift boot, harsh and crude.

Summer's fury scorches my fragile frame,
Ribs like bars, a prison of bone.
Parched tongue seeks water, finds only pain,
Find me shade, I whimper, so alone.

Sometimes I see them, those bakkies of hope,
RESCUE written large, promise in their wake.
Could they free me from this noose of rope?
A loving home, a chance, it’s all it would take.

Just one soul to bring comfort and care,
A gentle hand, a toy, anything at all.
Why can't they teach love, show they're aware?
While they feast, I starve trapped by this wall.

In this city of plenty, I waste away,
A loyal heart, broken, day by day.
Is there no one to hear my silent plea?
To love, to save, to finally set me free?

As hope fades, resigned to my fate,

A stranger lifts me, love in their eyes.

Warmth fills my heart, no longer I wait,

A squeaky toy, a home—joy's a surprise.

In this new life, devoted I'll stay,

Safe and cherished, come what may.

My tale of woe turns to one of grace,

Forever grateful for this loving embrace.

The need never ends
